Gracious God

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;

he rises to show you compassion.

For the Lord is a God of justice.

Blessed are all who wait for him! Isaiah 30:18

I read this verse while studying Isaiah and marked it down in order to hide it in my heart. As I get ready for the 6th verse to be memorized this month – I picked this very particular passage.

In its proper context, this beautiful verse is tucked right in the middle of a chapter which opens with a ‘woe to the obstinate children’ because they’ve turned their back on God. Lovingly, He invited them to return. “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength” (v. 15). But:

They say to the seers, “See no more visions!” and to the prophets, “Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions. Leave this way, get off this path, and stop confronting us with the Holy One of Israel!” Isaiah 30:10–11

It is only by grace that I can approach a holy and righteous God and dare to call Him ‘Father’. I find comfort in knowing that the ones who wait for the LORD will be blessed. Waiting for God requires patience and to know the same loving God who had compassion on the rebellious children of Israel also wants to be compassionate to us.

He has a plan a wants to give us a future and hope. At times, He may appear to be silent and trials, testings, and challenges to our faith may come – but we can be sure that although we might be wounded, we cannot be defeated. He’s watching over us whether His presence is felt or not. Though He might not be manifesting Himself now but He never stops loving us with an everlasting love. Our God never fails to cause ALL things – even His silence – to work together for our God.

I will wait for the Lord, Who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob. I will put my trust in him. Isaiah 8:17

  4. Love it. This is my morning prayer Psalm 27:14
    Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.

    I put in for the job I was telling you about. They have two openings and I spoke with GOD and told him that I trust that he will place me where he needs me. If I get it, "yipee", if not; "yipee" for the person who does~!

    Love, peace and blessings for a Great day!
    Can't wait to see you in person. You're so close to my heart!
