Oh, Beloved, do you see it? You are not coming to some remote, untouchable, indifferent Sovereign. You are coming to a Father, a Father with children, a Father who loves, who cares, who longs to have fellowship with His children. Why don’t you take a few minutes and talk to Him as a child talks to his or her father?
“But, Kay”, you may say, “my father never talked to me, never cared for me, so how can I talk to God as a Father?” Even though you may have had that kind of father, didn’t you long for one who was loving, affectionate, caring, and accessible? Of course you did. Well, there He is, in heaven, waiting for you to talk to Him.
Spill it all out…aloud. Tell Him what you think about Him as a Father. Tell him your fears, your hopes, your expectations. Tell Him what you long for in a relationship. Then ask Him what He longs for…and listen carefully. Give Him time to speak; then write down what comes to your mind.
From the book, Lord Teach Me to Pray in 28 days by Kay Arthur.
Great points and I'll definitely be sharing them with others. I receive some of Kay Arthur's teachings via mail, but don't have any of her books. Thanks to you that will change.

He surely is our Abba Daddy :O)
ReplyDeleteI remember writing in my bible about my birth father and having an ephiphany that my Heavenly Father was there all the time. I cried when I came to that realization that I spent most of my life yearning for my dad when MY FATHER IN HEAVEN wanted me to bring it "all" to him. As humans, we sure do bring a lot of heartache on ourselves, but with GOD's grace, we live and learn and hopefully share our experiences with other like we've done through blogging.
ReplyDeleteLove, peace and blessings my sister!
God Bless you!! I really needed to read this. It's always good to be reminded of our God the true communicator and listener. Blessings to you always!!
ReplyDeleteAmen my friend! What a wonderful reminder! May we never forget to call on His name and look to Him as the provider of all our needs!
ReplyDeleteTake care my sweet friend!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for this post. Wow, I didn't have a very good relationship with my father. The sexual abuse at his hands put such shame and hate in my heart for him. As I got older and grew closer to Christ, it was through His love and teachings that I was able to forgive my birth father. My ABBA FATHER took the shame and hate away and replaced it with love and compassion...and not just for those unknown individuals to me but to my birth father.
ReplyDeleteI didn't truly forgive him until after his death but God lifted me out of that bondage and delivered me...HALLELUJAH!
So, thank you for reminding us that our ABBA FATHER is always there and we can talk to him about anything and everything...hey He knows anyway and is just waiting on us to lay it at His feet.
Peace and Blessings,
Stacye
